Political Science Professor or Researcher: This is where earning a PhD comes in handy. If you like the idea of teaching political science at the undergraduate or graduate level, consider becoming a professor. After you’ve earned the requisite post-graduate degrees, applying for faculty positions is pretty straightforward, and chances are you’ll likely network with the right people along the way, so when it comes time to lock in a position, there will be a mentor who needs – or knows someone who does – a teaching assistant. Becoming a researcher is similar, and is a career you’ll want to pursue if you have an endless thirst for knowledge and want to contribute meaningful research to the body of academia in political science.
