Government Official: This is a rather broad term for anyone working within government, whether at the local, national, or international level (and stuff in between). According to the dictionary, a government official is anyone elected or appointed to administer a government, meaning everyone from the administrative assistants at government offices to the heads of government entities like the Securities and Exchange Commission, etcetera. Due to the broad nature of this career, there are countless ways to get involved beyond earning a degree in poli sci. Interning for government bureaucracies, political campaigns, state and federal government programs, and more is a surefire way to get started.
