It’s no secret that technology has changed our lives, work lives included. No longer is it a necessity to sit in a cubicle from the hours of 9-5. Not only can many jobs be done virtually, some companies even prefer that you work at home. That’s right, these companies will hire you, pay you, and not expect you to come into an office every day. In fact, there’s an entire job website dedicate to these more flexible jobs, FlexJobs.com. Here are ten companies with remote workplace cultures.

Buffer
Positions include developers, designers, marketing, finance, and more
Buffer is a social media management company that allows you to schedule tweets, Facebook posts, and LinkedIn posts so you don’t have to be on top of your social media channels 24/7. At Buffer, not only is there no office, but there are no managers. How does it work then? Buffer works as a distributed team of twenty-five employees spread across the globe. This allows a member of the team to be awake and working at all times. The members of the team get together in person three times a year, allowing them to travel the world as well as work.

Mozilla
Positions include building, designing, operations, business, marketing, and more
That’s right, the maker of Firebox not only takes advantage of a remote workplace, but also is a nonprofit organization. There are thirteen global offices, however most of the positions the company is currently looking for are remote. Mozilla employers can be found in over thirty countries, with employees worldwide.

Upworthy
Positions include communications, writing, business, engineering, and more
Already a well-known media company, Upworthy also has a distributed team. They encourage their employees to work anywhere that makes them happy whether that be at home, a coffee shop, etc. The only condition to this? The Internet has to be good enough to do a Google Hangout.

10Up
Positions include web strategy, design, and engineering
With sixty full-time employees, 10Up is on the rise. Yes, you read that correctly – full-time. This virtual company helps clients both develop and maintain their websites. Employees are found in most major U.S. cities, as well as in Canada, Europe, and India.

Fire Engine Red
Positions include web strategy, sales, marketing, software developer, and more
Since 2001, Fire Engine Red – a marketing, technology, and data solutions company – has accumulated over 500 clients. They are 100% a virtual company, with over sixty employees found in twenty U.S. states as well as in Canada. Despite originally starting as an office-based company, peopleG2 switched to a virtual workspace back in 2008. peopleG2 is known as a leader in background check and employment screening.

Positions include software developer, designer, and more
This software development company has been a virtual team since it started in 1991. The team includes over fifty developers in the U.S. and Canada working in web & mobile design, application development, and front-end work. It’s common for projects to last many years, so long-term commitment is key for this company.

Automattic

Automattic, better known as the people behind WordPress.Com, has 235 employees in 29 countries, 174 cities, and 36 U.S. states, all of whom work from home. Millennials, we’re the most computer-savvy generation. We’re the generation that doesn’t have the desire to get dressed up and work in an office everyday. You can still have a full-time, salary paying, benefit-giving career without the rigid hours or work environment. Look into these companies and others that allow you to work remotely.
