Have No Fear Teachers, There’s An App For That

Yes, there’s an app for that – that means for you too, teachers. There are apps out there that can make your lives easier. Do you not understand how other teachers are better organized thank you are? How their students always know what the homework is? How they stay in touch with parents without being annoying? These apps can help with all that. Here are the top 10 apps for teachers and education.

  1. Remind – free
    We understand, teachers want to send their students a reminder message without getting bombarded with responses. This app lets you do just that. Teachers can send a reminder text to students, and that’s it. It’s one-way communication and all numbers and e-mails are kept private.
  1. Class Messenger – free
    Teachers can keep the parents of their students aware of how their children are acting in the classroom through this app. They are able to send messages to parents individually or in a group, making it great to also remind parents about trips, meetings, assignments, and more.
  1. Subtext free
    Embed topics for discussions directly into students’ reading with this app. Students are also able to make comments, look up words, and highlight relevant information.
  1. Google Docs – free
    From writing papers to sharing files, Google Docs is the most efficient tool. Some schools even have their students turn in homework by sharing them through Google Docs.
  1. ClassDojo – free
    This app allows teachers to give even more positive feedback by allowing them to discuss their students’ behavior. Teachers can even use this app to send parents messages – both publicly and privately – concerning their child’s progress.
  1. eBackpack – free
    Teachers can share information such as assignments and more with a class or an individual. Additionally, one can annotate and grade these assignments, as well. There’s even a chat functionality.
  1. Edmodo – free
    Just because school’s over no longer means that you can’t get in touch with your teacher. This app allows teachers and students to share content, submit assignments, and receive grades. Teachers can even post polls and quizzes for their students to take part in.
  1. Teacher’s Assistant Pro: Classroom Management Notes – $6
    Organization is important in all jobs, especially when you’re a teacher. With this app you can set records for your students, especially in terms of behavior. You can email specific things from the app itself.
  1. Educreations – free
    What’s better than an interactive whiteboard? One you don’t need to be in the classroom for. This app helps you create tutorials for your students that you can even record audio to.
  1. StudyBlue – free
    Flashcards are a great tool, making this app one as well. Teachers can make digital flashcards, quizzes, and study-guides. Students can create their own flashcards as well to help them study.

As almost all of these apps are free, they are great tools for teachers to take advantage of. From reminding students of tasks to complete, to grading assignments to helping better organize, these apps address an array of teacher’s needs.
