Want to Be the Next Zuckerberg? These Tech Conferences Should Be Your First Stop

Technology. It’s not going anywhere folks! It’s time to embrace it, love it, learn it, and attend tech conferences. These conferences are becoming more and more popular both nationally and internationally. With technology forever evolving, millennials should take advantage of these conferences, learn the trades, and go into jobs with even more knowledge than their peers. Which tech conferences are worth going to? I did some digging for you on Entrepreneur, CIO, and Forbes, and here are the ones I liked the best. Some of these are outside of the United States, so think of them as an excuse for a vacation! Disclaimer: these conferences can be a bit pricey and range in price. Many offer group discounts, as well as discounts for nonprofits, government, or education based organizations. Click on the names below to find out more, as well as specific prices.

Here are the top tech conferences for millennials:

Interop Las Vegas – Las Vegas, Nevada
This is probably the only case where what happens in Vegas shouldn’t stay in Vegas. You’re going to want to take everything you learned and the connections you made at this huge, well-known conference back with you to work. Check out one of their keynote speakers, Senior VP for technical infrastructure and Google fellow Urs Hölzle, by clicking here. All millennials should find it interesting; who doesn’t want to know how Google made it?!

Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing – Houston, Texas
Let’s hear it for the girls! Women’s working in technology is becoming more and more common (as it should). Sponsored and produced by the Anita Borg Institute and the Association of Computing Machinery, the goal of this conference is to increase the visibility of women in the world of technology. Here you’ll get to hear from some of the leading women in the industry. Last year’s keynote speakers included the Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, as well as Hilary Mason, the founder of Fast Forward Labs.

QCon – New York, New York and San Francisco, California
This series of global conferences encourages professionals in the software industry to share their knowledge with others. This conference is a must for anyone working in the world of software, whether it’s through innovating or influencing.

Mobile World Congress – Barcelona, Spain
Does this sound familiar to you? It’s probably because Mark Zuckerberg was the keynote in both 2014 and 2015. If this isn’t reason to book that vacation to Spain maybe this is – the conference includes almost 2,000 exhibitors, panels, keynotes, and workshops. Still not enough? Last year there were 82,000 attendees. Sounds like a great place to make connections, huh? Mobile is the future, and if you want to work in the mobile industry, this conference is for you.

Tech Crunch Disrupt – New York, New York
Start-ups are all the rage, and this technology conference acknowledges and helps that. If you want your start-up promoted, come here. What sets this conference aside from others? The journalists here are not afraid to get confrontational. They will ask the tough questions. Forbes rightfully describes the perks of this conference by saying “the start-up battlefield is a stand out highlight, as is the 24-hour hackathon, a breeding ground for future top tech talent.”

Adobe’s Digital Marketing Conference – Salt Lake City, Utah
Whether you’re in the field of communications, design, or essentially anything that involves creating images and graphics on a computer, I guarantee you use Adobe. Doesn’t it make sense to attend its conference? Digital marketing is vital to many popular professions presently, and here is your place to connect with others.120 sessions are included, which span many aspects of digital marketing such as advertising, social media marketing, analytics, and more.

Web Summit – Dublin, Ireland
We all know the Irish like to drink, but did you know they love their technology as well? This is the summit where technologists from all over the world come together, and focus on how their technology can change the world. Huge corporations such as Google, Amazon, and Coca-Cola are just some of the attendees at this conference. The focus is internet technology, which is something we can all benefit from learning more about!

Israel Dealmakers Summit – New York City, New York
Fun fact for all of you: a lot of technology comes out of Israel. This conference allows attendees to hear from great speakers involved with these technologies, as well as learning how Israel does it.

VentureBeat Mobile Summit – Sausalito, California
Mobile technology is arguably the biggest form of technology today. People always have their phones in their hands, and technologists know this (heck, they do it too). This conference focuses solely on mobile technology, and allows you to not only speak with top executives in the industry, but also to debate them in different ways to keep growing.

South By Southwest Interactive – Austin, Texas
Here’s your chance to meet some of the biggest influencers from both Silicon Valley, home to San Franciscos’s high tech industries and start-ups, and Silicon Alley, home of NYC’s high tech industries, and party?! That’s right, this conference rivals a festival by being such an interactive conference by including trade shows, speakers, parties, and even a startup accelerator (hands-on programs to help startups).
