Between the World and Me: One of 2015’s biggest literary standouts was this unbelievably poignant book written by Ta-Nehisi Coates. It is structured in the form of a letter to his son which deals with the intricacies, pains, and beauty of being an African American in the modern-day United States. In November, Coates won the National Book Award for this prolific work, and it will likely stand as one of the greatest pieces of Black literature for generations.
